Race: KSSS Olympic Class Regatta

1. Rules

1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). 

1.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

1.3 Competitors shall when afloat wear personal flotation devices. This rule does not apply to short-term replacement or adjustment of clothing or personal equipment, or when competitors are in the harbor or under deck. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices. This changes RRS 40. A boat that breaks this rule may be warned or penalized at the discretion of the protest committee.

2. Eligibility requirements

2.1 To be entitled to participate in championships sanctioned by the Swedish Sports Federation, each competitor shall comply with ISAF Regulation 19.
In order to be awarded the title Swedish Champion (SM) the competitors shall be Swedish citizens or have resided in Sweden for at least six months the last twelve months before the event starts.
At championships with more than one competitor per boat, a majority of the crew (more than 50%) shall comply with the rule regarding the title Swedish Champion. If so, the entire crew will be awarded the title Swedish Champion.
Championship plaquette and titles may be awarded if six or more boats from at least three different clubs located in more than one district have crossed the finish line in one race in the championship.

2.2 The person in charge onboard the boat shall be a member of his/her Member National Authority or one of its affiliated organisations.

2.3 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance.

2.4 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

2.5 The organizers reserve the right to delete, or combine classes to a start if less than 8 boats is enter in a class at the ordinary entry date.

3. Entries

3.1 Entry shall be made online not later than 22 September, 2014 at www.ksss.se. 

3.2 The entry shall include the following: name of the regatta, race class, letters, sail no., skippers name, address, telephone no., e-mail and yacht club.

3.3 The entry fee is:

The entry fee is paid online at the entry registration.

4. Registration and measurement checks

4.1 Registration shall be made at the race office not later than 4 October 2014 at 09.30.

4.2 Measurement certificate may be requested prior to racing.

5. Sailing Instructions

5.1 The sailing instructions will be handed out upon completion of the registration.

6.2 12 races are scheduled for 29er and 49er. 8 races for Multihull and 6 races are scheduled for all other classes.

7. Race format

7.1 If the number of participating boats exceeds 50, the boats can be divided into smaller fleets. Details will be described in the sailing instructions.

8. Racing area

8.1 The racing areas will be Baggensfjärden.

9. The course

9.1 Windward-leeward or trapezoid course will be sailed.

10. Protests and penalty systems

10.1 RRS Appendix P will apply.

11. Scoring

11.1 The low point scoring system of RRS Appendix A will apply, modified so that when three or fewer races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

11.2 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a Swedish championship.

12. Prizes

12.1 KSSS prizes according to the number of entries in each class, one prize for every fifth entry, with a maximum of eight prizes. Swedish Sailing Federation Championship plaques for the Swedish Championships. 

12.2 Championship plaquette and titles may be awarded if six or more boats from at least three different Swedish clubs located in more than one Swedish districts have crossed the finish line in one race in the championship.
