Close but no cigar!
Mekonomen Sailing Team just lost the gold after losing 1-3 to Ian Williams in the quarterfinals in Monsoon Cup.
Mekonomen Sailing Team just lost the gold after losing 1-3 to Ian Williams in the quarterfinals in Monsoon Cup.
Mekonomen Sailing Team choosed to race Ian Williams in quarters and get a chance to sail for the gold. The wind here in Kuala Terrenganu was light but fairly stable and the races started in the afternoon. We managed to win the first race even though we got a penalty in the pre-start. The next 3 races were all very tight and even though Williams led around the first mark in most races we managed to fight back and pass, unfortunately he did the same to us and passed the line first more times then us! We were so close and all the guys did a great job.
So, we ended the season with fifth place in Monsoon Cup BUT with a Silver medal in the Matchracing World Championship.
