The KSSS yachting centre in Stockholm’s outermost archipelago is soaked in tradition and offers unique possibilities for ocean racing. At Sandhamn KSSS runs the Guest Harbour.
KSSS Harbour in Sandhamn
On the outskirts of the archipelago lies the beautiful island of Sandön. For more than one hundred years Sandhamn has been the base for KSSS yacht-racing operations.
Since 2000 KSSS has been responsible for all harbours on Sandhamn under the name of Sandhamn Guest harbour. The KSSS harbour has two pontoon jetties with a permanent bridge in-between, and large jetties in front of Sandhamn Hotel & Conference and the East and West harbours.
On the Sandhamn side there are berths for approx. 180 visiting boats and at the adjacent Lökholmen there are berths for a further 200. On the northern part of the L-shaped pontoon jetty there are places for temporary mooring. The reserved places are marked with signs.
To get to Sandhamn you sail from the beacon-illuminated route north of Sandön. Shallow-draught boats can even take the KSSS marked route between Telegrafholmen and Lökholmen.
From the route north of Sandön to the south of Lökholmen, there is a speed limit of 5 knots.
Please use fixed mooringlines. Anchoring is strictly prohibited.
The island has a public road that runs from the harbour to the beach Trouville. Between the old houses and sheds there are only well-trodden steps. The oldest surviving house was built in the middle of the 1700s. Sandön is an old lighthouse, pilot and customs location. Around 300 inhabitants lived on the island during the 1800s; the majority of them which were pilots and customs officials. Agriculture, fishing and hunting were other occupations at that time.
Ferry boats take you from Sandhamn to the quieter Lökholmen. Here there are berths for 200 visiting boats. Connected to the harbour there are showers and toilets. Furthest in before Trollharan you will find the KSSS club house Trollgården, where there is the possibility for KSSS members to rent rooms.
