This years Eurocard Round Gotland Race, Sweden's and one of the worlds largest offshore regattas, makes history for the clam seas and the most tactical regatta ever.
The regatta was dominated by a unusual lonlasting high pressure with winds between 1 - 8 knots and lots of patches with no wind at all. The winners were the skippers and tacticians who could find the wind, with both knowledge and a bit of luck. At last, during Saturday night, a cild front came with gust up to 30 knots.
The weather conditions gained the smaller boats, that sailed the shortest course, the first boat to finish was a Diva 39, Silverfågel, Team Brenter.
The overall victory was won by Ralf Aspholm and his experienced crew (Anders Lewander beeing one of the drivers) on a Sinergia 40, Datacom.
Last boat to finish was the Polich boat, Fourwinds, who cut the finishing line at about 11 pm Sunday night, right after Team Räknäs, the youth boat.
74 boats discontinued the race due to either time pressure or to little food and water in this very long race.
