The Eurocard Round Gotland Race is one of the world’s largest Offshore Races, arranged at the turn of the month June/July each year with the starting and finishing lines in Sandhamn. The Regatta has become a folk festival with around 300 participating boats and an abundance of spectators! The 2009 edition of the Eurocard Round Gotland Race begins on 1 July and continues for two days, when the sailors tussle with the challenges of the changing winds and the other competitors.

The competition is divided into eight different classes, sailing on five different courses. The longest, over 500 nautical miles, is sailed by 60-foot long trimarans, the shortest (which does not sail around Gotland) is for classic boats. The overall victor is appointed in the ORC International class. For the less experienced and family sailors there is the SweLYS/SRS class, which provides the holiday sailors a taste of a real sail-race adventure!

The folk festival in Sandhamn begins on 25 June with the Sandhamn Race Week.
