Life rafts for the Eurocard Round Gotland Race
Which type of life raft should you buy? Life rafts should be approved for sail-racing in accordance with OSR, Offshore Special Regulations, the rafts in accordance with the criteria are listed below:
- SOLAS approved life rafts
- ORC life raft manufactured before January 2003
- Life rafts classed in accordance with OSR Appendix A part II, colloquial name ”ISAF raft”
- ISO 9650-I group A with emergency pack 2

As an offshore race sailor you are advised to equip your boat with life rafts and other safety equipment recommended by the competition organizers. For KSSS offshore races the international regulations OSR, Offshore Special Regulations category 3 with life raft, are applicable.

Medic Team in Sandhamn
During the regatta, from June 29th to July 5th a Medic Team will be at the venue. To contact the Medic Team, please go to the Race Office.

If you are contemplating purchasing a new life raft you should chose a raft of the type ISO 9650-1, temperature class B with a minimum of equipment pack 2. This means that the raft is manufactured and equipped to endure conditions where strong winds and high waves can occur. The equipment is designed on the premise that outside help is estimated to reach you within 24 hours. A more detailed description of the life raft type ISO 9650 can be found at www.sailing.org.
