The Royal Swedish Sailing Club (KSSS) has through its successful Olympic campaigns and its involvement with the Americas cup challenger Artemis Racing generated impressive experience in both multihull and skiff sailing. In an effort to create a natural path from smaller boat racing in to high speed racing on the highest level, the club has now acquired a M32 catamaran in to the clubs racing program. In a first phase the boat will be used to sharpen the skills of the Artemis Youth Team in their challenge for the Red Bull Youth Americas Cup.

“We are very proud for this opportunity that the club and people close to the club have made possible. It will with out a doubt be a great tool in creating a strong team around Artemis Youth Racing. The intense racing on the M32 Series will work as a fantastic complement to the GC32 and AC45 training and help the team get a lot of racing in a short time period.” explains Björn Johansson, head coach of KSSS and coach for Artemis Youth Racing together with Olympic gold medalist Freddy Lööf.

He continues “But in the long run this will be very important for the club in creating a development program for the sailors in the club who are aiming for an international career outside of the Olympic programs. We’re investing in this beyond the Red Bull Youth Americas Cup campaign.”

One KSSS sailor who is looking forward to the fact that his club has invested in a M32 catamaran is Björn Hansen, longtime match racing ace on the World Match Racing Tour.
